Ryde Academy students share Easter joy with the local community

Students at Ryde Academy on the Isle of Wight recently took part in a non-uniform day with a purpose - to bring a little extra joy to those in need this Easter.

For the school’s end of term non-uniform day, Ryde Academy asked staff and students to bring in a chocolate egg instead of a £1 donation. With the whole school coming together for the community, roughly 1,000 eggs were collected and distributed on Friday afternoon to vulnerable people and families across the Ryde area.

In partnership with Ryde Town Council, students helped deliver the Easter treats to key local services, including the Ryde Food Pantry, Phoenix Projects, local care homes like Aspire, and several other community-focused organisations. Each delivery aimed to support those facing hardship and bring some cheer during the holiday period.

A special shout-out goes to the school’s Yellow House students, who brought in the most eggs, with over 150 in their box.

The initiative was inspired and led by the students themselves, whose strong sense of community and compassion drove an outstanding response. Their impressive efforts reflect a wider ambition for the Lift Schools network as a whole: to embed our schools at the heart of- and give back to- the communities they serve.

Head of School, Will Doyle, said:

“We are incredibly proud of our students for their generosity and their willingness to support those in need. This non-uniform day was a fantastic opportunity for them to come together and make a real difference to the lives of others, particularly during this special time of year.”

Ryde Town Council also praised the students for their efforts, highlighting the event as a shining example of how schools and local organisations can work hand in hand to support those who need it most.
