Lift Schools is celebrating excellent results this week, with our primary schools seeing some brilliant outcomes in phonics and key stage 2 SATs across our network.
We're thrilled to announce a jump in the number of key stage 2 (ks2) students across our schools who've met the expected standards. This year, 79% of our year 6 pupils achieved the combined standard in reading, writing, and maths. That's a 3 percentage point increase from 2024, and 17 percentage points higher than the national average of 62% for 2025. We're also proud that three of our primary schools, Trinity Primary Academy, Noel Park and Feversham Primary Academy exceeded 90% in their ks2 tests.
The majority of our schools - 19 out of 31 - either maintained or improved their outcomes compared to 2024. The most significant improvement was seen at Beacon Primary Academy, which saw an impressive 24 percentage point increase (from 57% to 81%) over 2024.
Our disadvantaged pupils have shown positive growth in their expected reading, writing, and math (RWM) attainment, which saw a small but important rise from 70% in 2024 to 71% in 2025. What's more, our disadvantaged children continue to outperform the 2024 national average for non-disadvantaged pupils (67%) by a strong margin of 4 percentage points.
Lift Schools CEO Becks Boomer-Clark said: “This is a remarkable achievement and a powerful example of the life-changing work our schools are delivering every day."
Our phonics results were also strong again this year: 89% of our year 1 pupils passed the phonics screening check, which is equal to our 2024 outcome but 9 percentage points higher than the national average in 2024. We saw an improvement this year, with 15 out of 31 schools achieving 90% or higher, which is one more than last year.
Disadvantaged pupils, including those qualifying for pupil premium, showed a really good performance, matching the achievements of their disadvantaged counterparts across the country. Notably, last year our disadvantaged pupils outperformed non-disadvantaged pupils nationwide by 4%.
Ruth Murad, Director of Primary at Lift Schools, added: “We’re incredibly proud of our primary schools and the teams who have achieved a remarkable set of key stage 2 results. This has been achieved through hard work, dedication and high expectations for all our pupils.”
2025 marked the fourth year for the Multiplication Table Check (MTC). The proportion of pupils achieving full marks (25) saw a considerable improvement, up 8 percentage points from 2024, from 51% to 59%. This figure was well above the national average, exceeding it by 25 percentage points. Across the trust, the average score for pupils was 22.4, which is 0.5 marks higher than the 2024 average (21.9) and 1.8 marks higher than the national average (20.6).
We’re pleased to report that outcomes for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in 2025 showed a good improvement compared to 2024.
The percentage of pupils achieving a Good Level of Development (GLD) rose by 0.7 percentage points compared with 2024 to 74.5%, notably 6.8 percentage points above the 2024 national average of 67.7%.
Furthermore, the percentage of pupils meeting the expected level across all 17 Early Learning Goals (ELGs) increased by 3.1 percentage points from 2024, with 72.6% of our pupils reaching this standard. This also surpassed the 2024 national average by 6.4 percentage points. The average number of ELGs met per child improved from 14.2 in 2024 to 14.3, which is 0.2 above the 2024 national average of 14.1.
